Glad the Holidays are over!!

Bella and I on the trap line

The boys and their new friends

Well, it has been a month since we have posted. Lots going on. My mom came from Houston. We had a nice visit. We even got Bob to go to the mall (we did leave early, he and I had enough). My cousin came down with one of his friends. Bob and Nathan wrestled and Nathan squealed like a girl !! We also went to Bob's side for x-mas. Had a god time there also. They really make me laugh. The kids are enjoying being out of school. We have not seen much of Ashley. Dustin has been a house bum. And Brett has been building a fort at father Padilla park all week with his friends. Bob and I have spend our two weeks off, hunting the dogs, calling coyotes and running a trap line. Hate to go back to work next week. I was I was retired and could do this every day!!

Having a blast!!!!

Well our life has been so crazy with hunting season. Bob and I took a week off the middle of November to hunt the dogs and call coyotes. We have made a trip to Iowa to meet new friends. Got a new pup her name is Bella ( Airedale) I really like her, she has a very funny personality. We also got to do some hunting with a guy that bought a pup from us. I have been hunting terriers for 7 years now and have never got a coyote with them until last weekend. MAN, was i scared for the dogs. I did not even wait for Bob to get the camera. I dispatched the coyote very fast. We will have to work now until x-mas break and then more time off !!! The kids are great, Ashley is playing B-ball and made varsity!! Brett and Dustin are hunting with us and cant Wait for x-mas break. My mom is coming for x-mas (I guess no Chinese food) and Dustins has a birthday the 27th. Again sorry for it taking so long for an update. Shell

2nd Annual Coyote Calling Contest

Bob and I started our week vacation on Saturday. We entered a coyote calling contest in Clay Center. Friday night was check in to get the rules and have dinner with some friends. Thank goodness our friends asked us to dinner before the check in. They told us last year they had Beaver Chili, yes you read right!! Bob and I decided to pass ( did not want an upset belly on Saturday). There were 20 teams of 2 and it was cold. They did not tell us that the meeting was held outside, thank goodness I carry a blanket for just kind of occasion. Saturday morning Bob was awake early and did not sleep well all night, he gets like that when he has something on his mind. We headed out the door around 6:20 and drove around waiting for the sun to rise. The first place we went to Bob shot a coyote just right in front of me (I did pee a little). I was to busy looking in my binoculars to even see the coyote right in front of me. The wind was really blowing. The second place we hit, yes we called in another coyote. We had a lag time for about 2 hours and yes Bob again shot another coyote. Then another at a different location. We saved our honey hole for the last place right before dark. We called for only about 5 min in an old rock query. I was scanning the rock ledge and i saw some thing that caught my eye, yes a coyote all to my self. Bob was in the bottom to my right and I knew this would make us or break us. I first must say that I'm not a very good shot. I get very excited and start to shake and well, i do miss alot. When I figured out it was a coyote I took in a big breath and pretended that the coyote was a water bottle (I can hit those). I did not have a good shot because of some trees. I made a kissing sound to get him to move and it worked!! I shot, and hit him and made him do donuts. I ran as fast as I could up the rocks to do him in. Well he ran and we never could find him. I was getting dark and we had to be back in Clay Center to check back in. To make a long story short, my husband is a awesome shot and for some reason that is a big turn on for me!!! We walked away with second place. We ended up with 4 coyotes one being only 11.2 lbs and won the contest for the smallest coyote. Once again we had a wonderful time together and we have all week to spend doing what we both love to do HUNT !!!!!!

Hooked on Reading!!!

Well a few weeks back I went to the book store and got a couple of new books. The young lady asked if she could help me ( man if she only knew) I said yes, I would like a book that will keep my attention. Boy, be careful what you ask for some times. I have my nose in my new book The Twilight every free minute I have. When she first told me that is was about Vampire's and Werewolf's, well that is one thing that I'm very scared of. As a child that's what my nightmares were about. I laughed and said there was no way I could read these. First of all I live in the country where it is VERY dark and it is bad enough that I'm afraid of the dark ( yes, hard to believe). Oh, she said that are not bad V's the are good. Stupid me I bought the book and had it read in 4 day's all 528 pages. She was right, there are good V's and BAD V's. I have never in my life read that many pages of any thing!!! I had to make a special trip to the book store to buy the next book The New Moon. Had it read in just a few day's also and made another trip Friday night to get the other 2 books, Eclipse and Braking Dawn. Man, what good book's!!! Now Dustin is reading Twilight, and really likes it. He has a hard time reading it at night, he to is a scardy cat like his mom. Well better go I have books to read! Shell

4-Wheeling by Fort Riley

Today we went 4-wheeling near Ft Riley. It was on the east side of the high way by the big cannon. We ate breakfast a the M-Donald's place (not my pick) and Ashley is yelling the weenie mobile, the weenie mobile!! Sure enough their it was. We had to stop and take a picture. If you noticed Bob was not in the picture. I cant not repeat what he wanted to call the blog but if you use you imagination I'm sure it would not be hard. We really had a nice time riding the 4-wheelers. We went to a new spot, with the friend we usually go with. We had to make our own trails and ran over lots of little trees and lots of weeds. Ashley had not been able to go with us 4-wheeling before because of work or friends. On our way home we stopped and ate and the ride home was so quite, they were all asleep in the back seat. We must have wore them out. We should take them more to new place's (poor kids). Yes, that is Ashley on 2 wheels trying to run over a tree.
