Hooked on Reading!!!

Well a few weeks back I went to the book store and got a couple of new books. The young lady asked if she could help me ( man if she only knew) I said yes, I would like a book that will keep my attention. Boy, be careful what you ask for some times. I have my nose in my new book The Twilight every free minute I have. When she first told me that is was about Vampire's and Werewolf's, well that is one thing that I'm very scared of. As a child that's what my nightmares were about. I laughed and said there was no way I could read these. First of all I live in the country where it is VERY dark and it is bad enough that I'm afraid of the dark ( yes, hard to believe). Oh, she said that are not bad V's the are good. Stupid me I bought the book and had it read in 4 day's all 528 pages. She was right, there are good V's and BAD V's. I have never in my life read that many pages of any thing!!! I had to make a special trip to the book store to buy the next book The New Moon. Had it read in just a few day's also and made another trip Friday night to get the other 2 books, Eclipse and Braking Dawn. Man, what good book's!!! Now Dustin is reading Twilight, and really likes it. He has a hard time reading it at night, he to is a scardy cat like his mom. Well better go I have books to read! Shell

Last night my step son Brett got baptized! I could tell he was a little nervous, but he did very well. Grandma Judy came from Council Grove, and Aunt Jenny,Matt and Garrett came from Manhattan to be a part of this event. Brett goes to church every Wednesday and we just thought he was going because of his girlfriend. I guess we were wrong. Good job Brett, we are proud of you. Thanks for everyone coming.

4-Wheeling by Fort Riley

Today we went 4-wheeling near Ft Riley. It was on the east side of the high way by the big cannon. We ate breakfast a the M-Donald's place (not my pick) and Ashley is yelling the weenie mobile, the weenie mobile!! Sure enough their it was. We had to stop and take a picture. If you noticed Bob was not in the picture. I cant not repeat what he wanted to call the blog but if you use you imagination I'm sure it would not be hard. We really had a nice time riding the 4-wheelers. We went to a new spot, with the friend we usually go with. We had to make our own trails and ran over lots of little trees and lots of weeds. Ashley had not been able to go with us 4-wheeling before because of work or friends. On our way home we stopped and ate and the ride home was so quite, they were all asleep in the back seat. We must have wore them out. We should take them more to new place's (poor kids). Yes, that is Ashley on 2 wheels trying to run over a tree.

Master of Destruction

Dustin wants to build a go-cart!! He went to do some work for one of my clients and she gave him the motor he was needing to start his new project. As a younger boy he would take things a part (never getting them back together, the way they should). He has always liked to tinker. When Dustin got home on Saturday he could hardly wait to get started. Well Sunday rolled around and from the time he woke up until it got dark, he was out side working on getting parts from my old lawn mower. He really worked hard!! Now he wants Bob to get a frame from the junk yard and his project will be complete (we hope). Shell

My Flower Garden

Well summer is close to an end and I hate to see my hard work die. I got this bright idea to grow my own flowers starting with seed's. I went to Home Depot and bought a shelf and some florescent light to help them grow better. Man this was a lot of work. I had to keep them moist but not to moist. The first batch I killed ( I though I really had a green thumb). Being the person I am and don't do well with defeat, I started a new round (when it got a little warmer). They did OK, not what I had expected. I found a green house on sale, and yes I bought it!!! Cant waite until next spring to experiment with it. I want to use the seed's from my flowers outside to make more flower's (Bob I know what you are thinking). I also had this weird vine growing in my flower bed, I could not waite to see what it was going to produce. Gourds, the kind you can make bird houses out of!!! So, I have been reading up on how to dry them and make bird houses out of them. So if any one is interested ( I have lot's growing) I would be happy to pass some your way. There is nothing like getting dirt under your finger nails and the smell of dirt. Shell

Kids and birthdays

Well it has been crazy around here. With school starting and birthdays all in the same week and a crazy work schedule have left not much time to post. Brett's birthday was on Friday (13 yrs old) and Ashley's was on Tuesday (the big 16). Brett decided to have just a dad and son b-day and to spend it deer hunting (Sept 13 youth season). I hope that they have the opportunity to shoot a nice buck. Ashley has decided to have friends over this weekend and to go to the mall on Saturday and chase guys and shop!! I can not believe that she is 16. It just seems like yesterday that I was dropping her off to kindergarten and crying that my little baby girl was starting school.
