My first 5K Race

Today I got to mark something off my bucket list. Went to the Susan Komen Race for the Cure this morning  with both of my sister in laws and ran for my mom who is a breast cancer survivor. I really did not know what to expect, and I was shocked to find out there were over 10,000 people in the race!!!  The two things that stick out in my mind are the people standing on the side lines yelling encouragement, and the people with disabilities running. It humbles me to see people who nerve give up when the world has given up on them. Thanks to both of my sis in laws for all the encouragement. Love you both

I have done that before

Dustin and I took a trip over the weekend.  We were almost at our location and I had to go tho the bathroom. We stopped at Caseys and I go inside to the restroom. I had just sat down and the door opens. The person tried to open my door but i was in there. I could not figure out why they did not go to the other side because no one was in that stall. I just peeked through the slit in the door and what i could see I did not like. It was a MAN!!!! I was trying to do my job and all the sudden I thought maybe I went into the wrong door. But I was pretty sure I did see a baby changing table when i walked in. Then I thought well I guess dad's could change kids too. I did not know what to do or say. I could tell he was getting impatient and so was I. Its very hard to go when your nervous. We were at a stand still and then it must have clicked to him that he was in the WOMENS bathroom. He turned on the hand dryer and walked out. I busted out laughing ( don't know why) but it was funny to me. I finished up with my business and walked out with a great big smile on my face. And I thought I was the only one that did silly things.

Today at 3:33 pm my little girl will be 18. It just seems like yesterday that she was starting kindergarten and riding her little red jeep. I could not have asked for a more kind, caring loving daughter. I'm so very proud to be her mom!!! I can't wait to see what the next 18 years will bring. There are no words to express how much I love you Ash. Have a great Birthday.......

Couch-to-5k

Well this week is my 7th week in my running program only 2 more weeks left. I weighed myself and I have lost 20 lbs and 21 inches total. I'm so very proud of my self. Weight is such a struggle for me. I finally think I have found something that I truly don't see as exercise RUNNING. I love the way my body feels when I'm done. Yes, I must say it is a mind game. I will be running my first 5K the end of September with both of my sister-in laws. This will be a great time and one hell of a memory!! Thanks for all the encouragement!!!!

Kayaking in Missouri

We decided as a family to do a fun vacation this year. We went to Missouri to do a Kayaking trip down the Current and Jack Fork river. We got there on Monday afternoon and did some swimming, and yes the water was cold!!! The boys did some cliff diving and Ash and I looked for minnows. The cabin we stayed in was right on the river. They had a pool and putt-putt golf. On Tuesday we were picked up at our cabin and delivered right to the river. I must say the guys that drive the van's there drive like I do (crazy) its curvy and lots of hill's. We picked the longest trip to do the first day. It's was 19 miles, of the most beautiful water and scenery. You could see the fish right under you in the water. There were caves along the way and we stopped several times to get a drink and a snack. It took about 8 hours that day. The last hour I could tell the kids were getting tired and hungry. Day two was just as fun and had a little more adventure. Ashley and Dustin were the only one that did not flip their Kayak. We really had a wonderful time. Very thankful for what I have, A great FaMiLy!!! Will post more pics later

Easter 2010

I will start out by saying I had a wonderful time with all my family and friends on Saturday! What a great Easter!!! I invited 24 people out to our house in the country for an Easter get together. We had so much FOOD. I hope everyone is still alive today after I tried to kill them with the pan busting (sorry dad). I guess a little glass never hurt anyone lol. After we ate we got to color some eggs. Then Madelyn and I and Garrett went to the basement to wait while the big kids got to hide the eggs. Oh, by the way I stuffed 126 eggs (yes Bob I went a little over board). Madelyn and Garrett did not know what to think about all the fur we have in the basement. So I gave them a little lesson on fur. They kept asking how much longer? I also was filling the kids on Confetti eggs and how it a tradition with my family to have these. I gave Madelyn and Garrett a hat to wear and told them it would help with the egg cracking on your head!! I think they all enjoyed the egg fight and the kids got lots of candy. After the hunt we got to shoot blue rock. What a great time that was. I love watching my boys turn into young men. They both did so well. Jenny got to shoot blue rock for the first time. She did great! Its always fun to see someone so excited to try something new!! Like I said, I had a wonderful Easter with all my family and friends! Please come back next year.

97 and counting

Into my second week with my first Hospice patient. She is in a nursing home and what a eye opener for me this has been. She has two daughters that don't live here. One lives in Whictia and the other Arizona. I try and go see her over lunch time to help feed her. She really is not wanting to eat or drink. Last week there was a older man in his wheel chair that was trying to fist fight another resident. He would not let go of this other ladies chair and had his fist pulled back and going to punch her. Well, me being me I said, "hay come hold on to my chair" he looked at me funny and said, "I will shoot you!!" I laughed and said well I have been working out this week and feeling a little strong. He looked at me funny and started to let go of this other lady's chair. Not knowing what in the hell I had just got myself into. He let go of the chair and the worker pulled the other lady away fast and here he came. I was thinking well I really don't want to get kicked out of here so I better behave myself. He is a poor defenceless man in a wheel chair ( I would have never hurt him) well not to bad, just kidding. About that time the head nurse, which is a big lady walked up and handed him a wash cloth and told him to wipe his face he had food all over it and I would not kiss him if he had food all over his face!!! I laughed so hard I think I wet my pants!!! Every time I go there I always leave with a smile on my face from something funny that has happened. I'm so thankful for this opportunity to make someone feel special. And by the way my lady is 97 years old.

Hospice

I have finished my training to be a Hospice volunteer. I have wanted to do this for a long time but just never felt ready. Now I am and what a wonderful group of people!! I learned so much over the last three weeks. I know that Hospice was wonderful to my family during our loss of several family members. I hope that I can give back half of what I was given.

To Iowa and back

Our weekend catch

Two of my favorite boys

Bella and Mack looing for coons in an old car

Stuck in the dog wagon

Two coons trying to hide

We all got to skip work and school last Friday Jan 29th to head to Iowa to do some hunting. Ashley got to stay home ( with no parties I hope) and do chore and work. Brett and Dustin talked Bob into sitting in the back so they would have more room up front. I had a great time with them up front. We counted dead animals on the road and they helped me look for cop's. We counted 28 dead deer 3 coons one skunk and 19 cop's. We listened to what ever kind of music we wanted and just had a great drive. We were all very excited to get the hell out of town. We got to Iowa about 1:00pm or so on Friday and jumped right in to hunting the dogs. We got 7 coons just on Friday and 23 on Saturday on one coyote. The man we stayed with was a very nice guy. On Saturday we got to chase coyotes first thing in the morning. I LOVE that!!!! Speed, fur and kill, what else could a girl ask for?? I look forward to our next trip!! By the way the ride home was not near as fun, Brett was sick and Bob and Dustin slept most of the way home.

This time of the year goes by way faster than I would like! Had a good Thanksgiving and a good Christmas. I'm so blessed to have a wonderful family. We had a great Christmas at mom and dad (muhlig) and I always leave with a big smile and my belly hurting from laughing. My mom and step dad came from Houston a couple of days after Christmas. We did a lot of shopping and eating. I really miss seeing her. She is a wonderful mom. Bob and I always take 2 weeks off during this time of the year and just spend time together and hunting. We have not done to much coyote calling because of the weather and his eye. I wish i was as good of a shot as Bob is but I'm not (someday). We have got the terriers out every chance we get. The new crew has done a great job finding coons. I could only wish that hunting season was year round and I was retired!! The kids made out like bandits at x-mas. Ashley is cooking at the local restaurant and part time at the vet clinic. Dustin is doing wonderful in school and just keeps making me smile. Brett is playing basketball ( his team is not very good :( but he sure tries. All three of the kids are such great kids and are growing up so fast. I love all of them with all my heart and soul. Hope to do more traveling on our bikes this summer. Oh did I forget to say, " I'm ready for the sun to shine" It's almost green house time!!!
