Jean Gosnell was one hell of a grandma! I loved going to her house when I was a little girl. I can tell you stories about her until I'm blue in the face. Just a few things that really stick out in my mind are going to the bowling alley with her. She was in the 300 club and proud of it. She was a lady you did not mess with. She carried a pistol in her glove box until the day she could no longer drive. She used to get a motel room in the summer called the Stardust in Lubbock and invite all of us over to swim. She loved to swim and would brag about how good she could float. This lady could water ski up until her 50's. She loved to sing, she always would put on a show at family reunions and would make my grandpa sign with her. She had a beautiful voice but grandpa well we better leave that one alone! I will never forget her and my Aunt Fay teaching me how to belly dance on a table when I was little. It would make me laugh. This lady gave me the love of German Shepard's. She worked at the police department in the 70's and worked with the dogs and fell in love with them. She had a dog named Stormy. He was a mean!! He hated everyone but me and grandma and grandpa. I would play ball with him any chance I got. Grandma always made me wear my seat belt and ride in the back seat (hated that). She always took my side and made me feel that I was number one in her book. This lady taught me to stand up for my self and not to take any thing off anyone! I could take on the world and she would back me up!! She was one of those kind of ladies that you NEVER wanted to make mad!! My cousin and I were laughing about her spanking us with the switch. I'm sure we deserved every bit of punishment. My Grandpa worshiped the ground she walked on and told her all the time how special she was to him. It is to bad that it takes someone to die to bring the family together for a visit. We used to have family reunions and what a party they were. We would dance, sing, drink, play cards, tell stories and eat good food. I will miss this lady more than words can say, but like I keep telling myself, I will see her on the other side and what a family reunion that will be.:) I would have loaded pics of my grandma but dont know how. Will work on that.
